About Hair Wraps
A hair wrap, or thread braid, is a creative way of adding a colourful, individual look to your hair. There are two ways you can make your hair wrap:
You can wrap the threads around your own hair making a ‘semi-permanent extension’. This can stay in your hair for weeks, being washed with your own hair, until you remove it carefully without any damage to your hair.
Or, you can create a ‘wrap’ using wool in place of your hair so you can wear it whenever you like without having to wash it with the rest of your hair or sleep with it in.
Create simple designs, like stripes, or more complex designs like ‘The Chinese Staircase’ – it’s up to you. Choose your colours and choose the design to suit your outfit or the occasion.

Festival Hair Braids
Hair wraps create your own look for boho music festivals and parties. Add beads, feathers, charms, ribbons and rags for a unique hippy style!
Hair Wraps for Kids
Younger kids love hair wraps. Braiding parties are great fun. Older kids can design their own braids and wrap each others hair. Younger kids may need a grown-up to do the wrap for them!

Who are Doodle Braids?
You'll often see hair wraps being done on when you're on holiday, in fact sometimes they're called 'beach braids'. With braiders charging by the inch, it was costing me a fortune as my daughter had really long hair! It's much cheaper and a lot more fun to do them yourself.
That’s why I set up Doodle Braids in 2012. My daughter was only 8 at the time. All her friends soon knew where to come for their hair wraps! She has always been the model for our packaging. You'll see her face on all our kits (much to her embarrassment!) She's now 16 and very much part of the business.
We have an online retail shop and also supply trade customers.

Hair wrapping is a practice that has its roots in ancient Egypt!. Egyptian women wove coloured threads, ribbons, beads and flowers into their hair braids. The wealthier Egyptians wove tubes of gold on each braid.
Soon, the rest of the ancient world were taking up hair wrapping - the practice became very fashionable in medieval Europe.
Hair wrapping became hugely popular in the sixties, spreading around the world from the beaches of California - the hippy revolution!
